Language Arts and Literacy
Students make great strides in developing foundational skills and learning how to read, developing these skills:
- Developing print concepts
- Phonological awareness
- Phonics and word recognition
- Increasing reading fluency
Mathematics
The math curriculum engages the child in hands-on activities, movement, and exploration to learn the following concepts:
- Number and operations
- Measurement and time
- Geometry and spatial relationships
- Problem-solving
Science
The science program is centered around everyday events in nature and within the child’s life. Students engage in exploration and problem solving to learn about their environment.
Visual and Performing Arts
The kindergarten students explore the arts through dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. Through each media students learn through active experiences, presentations, cutting, pasting, painting, and clay.
History and Social Sciences
The History and Social Studies program introduces the children to their world of today and the world of long ago. Engaging experiences and stories allow the children to compare and contrast extraordinary people and cultures, Through engaging activities, the children are introduced to the concepts of courage, self-control, justice, heroism, leadership, deliberation, and individual responsibility. The activities also provide opportunities to give back to their community.
Spanish Language
Provide the children with a firm foundation of the Spanish language through listening and speaking activities. Lessons incorporate singing, dancing, games, and cultural experiences. Spanish lessons are also integrated with classroom curriculum concepts.
